For months General Motors have been notifying more than a thousand dealerships about ending their contract. That's why the Treasure Valley GM store was not at all surprised when they got the letter.
This summer General Motors had plans of making big cuts this year and Larry Miller's Auto Mall in Caldwell is seeing it now.
"We received a letter that we cannot keep the GM store," said the Senior Vice President of Larry Miller Automotive Scott Harding.
The GM Company says it's one of the first steps in cutting up to 40% of its retail network.
Vice president of Larry Miller Auto says GM is not renewing their contract.
Now they will join the thousands of GM dealerships across the country of shutting down.
Larry Miller Auto says it's simple: too many stores and not enough sales.
"The amount of business in the Boise metro, there's probably 1 too many Ford stores," said Harding.
The company has not announced any layoffs as of yet but they did say it will affect all their employees in this Caldwell auto mall.
They say they're going to try to save as many jobs by transferring employees to the other stores in Boise.
But not everyone's job will be saved.
"For those that we cannot take in we have a compensation package put together," said Harding.
The company says it's a difficult decision but something that had to be done.
"It's tough to watch them go through this but I'm confident everything is going to be ok," said Harding.
The official closing date will be next week on December 2nd.
The company says customers can still get their service done at the 3 other Larry Miller Auto shops in Boise.
