Southwest District Health Department officials will continue to provide H1N1 (swine flu) community vaccination clinics in Canyon County on Saturday, November 21, December 5, and December 12 at the former Sportsman's Warehouse, 16865 Marketplace Blvd. in Nampa (I-84 and Karcher Road behind McDonald's), from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
No clinic is scheduled for November 28th.
Southwest District Health will be providing vaccine to the following priority groups as defined by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC):
* Pregnant women
* People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age
* Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel
* Persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old
* People ages of 25 through 64 years of age who are at higher risk for 2009 H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.
Southwest District Health serves Adams, Canyon, Gem, Owyhee, Payette, and Washington Counties.
Southwest District Health Department officials say the supply of inactivated vaccine (injections) will be about the same as it has been during the last several weeks, but H1N1 live, attenuated (weakened) flu nasal spray may be in short supply.
Because the weather forecast includes cold temperatures and rain, SWDH recommends that no one come to the clinic before the doors open at 11:00 a.m. There will be sufficient supplies of injectible vaccine. They also want to remind those parents with children age 9 and under who had there first H1N1 vaccination on or before October 31, that it is time to get the booster. (If a parent exceeds the 21 to 28 days, the booster is still recommended for effective protection against the virus.)
An evening clinic is scheduled in Canyon County on Tuesday, December 1,
