A Meridian man has been booked into the Ada County Jail, facing a rape charge.
Police say Nicholas Sparks, 29, was arrested in Boise on a warrant issued by the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office.
Meridian Police Department spokesman Lt. Bob Stowe told Today’s Channel 6 News, the crime allegedly occurred at a barbeque Sparks held at his Meridian home last August. The home is located in a neighborhood near Ten Mile Road and Cherry Lane.
A number of people attended the party, including an unidentified female adult.
“Realizing she had had too much to drink, she asked (Sparks) if she could spend the night,” Stowe said. The woman told investigators she later went to sleep on a couch.
Stowe says Sparks allegedly sexually assaulted the woman against her will sometime thereafter.
Sparks is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Thursday, since the Ada County Courthouse is closed for Veterans’ Day.
If found guilty, Sparks could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
