Fish Managers Remind Anglers About Fishing Etiquette

AHSAHKA, Idaho - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Dworshak staff welcomes fishing enthusiasts who plan on fishing for steelhead or other species at the fishing wall at the base of Dworshak Dam, located upstream from Ahsahka on the North Fork of the Clearwater River.

While visiting this public recreation area, make the experience a safe and enjoyable one for everybody by following a few etiquette and safety rules, because safety is everyone's responsibility:

  • be courteous and help first-time fishermen get acquainted with fishing wall techniques
  • take turns casting into the "hot" holes
  • be careful while netting fish from slippery steps
  • pull or reel in your line when someone has a "fish-on" so it can safely be netted on the steps
  • all Idaho Fish and Game regulations apply
  • alcohol is not allowed on the premises past the gated area
  • observe the handicap parking zone
  • clean up after yourself, and use the trashcans or bags provided
  • observe boating rules and signs, including NOT boating anywhere near the dangerous spill area!
  • all other posted Corps restrictions apply, including leashing pets and not possessing firearms
