Idaho officials trying to extradite Mexico suspect

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- Elmore County officials in southwest Idaho say they are working with U.S. Department of Justice attorneys to send information to Mexico to extradite a man accused in Idaho of the 2002 killings of his girlfriend and her two young sons.

Elmore County Prosecutor Kristina Schindele tells the Idaho Statesman that the "extradition packet" outlines why Jorge Orozco is charged with three counts of first-degree murder and also contains affidavits from witnesses.

The documents must be submitted by the U.S. Office of International Affairs to the Mexican government by Dec. 4.

The 33-year-old Orozco was caught in southern Mexico in the Pacific coast state of Guerrero earlier this month after a 7-year manhunt that included placing him on the FBI's 10 most wanted list.

Police say Orozco killed Rebecca Ramirez and her sons, ages 2 and 4.
