WAC leader Idaho travels to Nevada

Associated Press - October 23, 2009 3:04 PM ET

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Few would have predicted before the season began that the Idaho Vandals would be sitting on top of the Western Athletic Conference by the time they traveled to Nevada for Saturday's football game.

The Vandals already have won twice as many games this year as they won the previous two seasons combined. They now are 6-1 overall, 3-0 in the WAC. Nevada lost its first three games but has won it's last three in a row to get to 3-3, 2-0 in the WAC.

Idaho Coach Robb Akey is billing the 1:05 p.m. matchup at Mackay Stadium as a "big-time showdown" between two undefeated WAC teams.

Oddsmakers have made Idaho a two-touchdown underdog, Nevada coach Chris Ault isn't buying it. He predicts the game will go down to the wire.
