HAILEY, Idaho (AP) -- The state prison agency says a 23-year-old inmate who was being held at a county jail in central Idaho committed suicide over the weekend by attaching a bedsheet to a ceiling vent and hanging himself.

Cody John Finch, who had recently been ordered to prison for violating the terms of his probation, was found early Saturday in his cell in the Blaine County jail.

Finch had been sentenced in late September to up to six years in prison for charges related to a 2007 burglary conviction in Camas County.

Jail staff and paramedics failed to resuscitate him after discovering him unresponsive in his cell at about 1:30 a.m.
