Jackson looks for ways to curb underage drinking

Associated Press - October 19, 2009 10:44 AM ET

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - Jackson police officers say the city's municipal code for underage drinking has loopholes that make it difficult to enforce. That's got city leaders looking for ways to strengthen the rules.

A Jackson Town Council staff report says the interpretation of juvenile alcohol law is so restrictive in Teton County that it makes enforcement nearly impossible.

The city's municipal code doesn't have any provisions that apply to minors drinking alcohol in private places without a parent or guardian.
