Board members resign from Nampa Classical Academy

NAMPA, Idaho (AP) -- A member of the Nampa Classical Academy Board of Directors says the resignations of three other board members will be announced at a meeting on Monday.

Michael Moffett tells the Idaho Press-Tribune that the resignations include the board chairman and that Moffett will fill that role.

Moffett says the resignations happened after an Oct. 11 special meeting with one agenda item called a "board conflict of interest."

Former chairman Kyle Borger says following the meeting he sent a letter to academy stakeholders announcing his resignation. The newspaper obtained a copy of the letter.

In the letter Borger says he decided to resign after a motion to remove Moffett from the board backfired.

On Monday the board is scheduled to vote on the resignations of Borger and board members Kris Wilson and Corey Freeman.

The Nampa Classical Academy had planned to use the Bible as a primary source of teaching material, but not to teach religion, until Idaho's charter school commission told them they couldn't use the Bible as an instructional text.
