Idaho Personal Income Figures Show Increase

Federal figures show small rise in personal income

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- New federal estimates show personal income in Idaho came in at nearly $49 billion for the period between April and June.

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis released the personal income estimates Friday. The $48.9 billion figure is up 0.4 percent from the first three months of 2009, but still more than 3 percent below a peak of $50.7 billion in the spring quarter of 2008.

The slight increase also marks and end of three straight quarters of decline.

The bureau calculates personal income by factoring in the total of all wages, business profits, investment earnings and payments for Social Security and jobless benefits.

Idaho's growth rate between the first and second quarters of 2009 ranked 23rd nationally.

Health care and agriculture were the only private sectors in the economy that saw growth in wages and profits.
