COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) - A northern Idaho man convicted of raping a woman in June has been sentenced to life in prison.

Gary Allen Srery of Plummer was sentenced Thursday in 1st District Court. The 67-year-old Srery must serve eight years before he is eligible for parole.

The 45-year-old rape victim testified Thursday that the stress of the attack later caused her to have a stroke, leaving her impaired on her left side.

Authorities say Srery drove the woman home from a Coeur d'Alene bar and attacked her for several hours.
