Two Idaho men died Wednesday evening in a single vehicle rollover crash on Highway 95 near Burns Junction, south of Jordan Valley, Oregon.
Preliminary information says, at about 10:20 p.m., a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Ron Tibbett, 46, from Wilder, Idaho, was northbound on Highway 95 near milepost 63 when, for an unknown reason, it drifted off the southbound shoulder. Officers say Tibbett overcorrected, hitting a fog marker, and slid sideways across the highway, where it rolled multiple times before coming to rest in a field facing westbound.
Tibbett and passenger, Joseph Geary, 50, from Marsing, Idaho, were both ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. There was no evidence of seat belt use.
Two dogs in the vehicle at the time also died at the scene.
Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation with help from the Malheur County Sheriff's Office.
