BURLEY, Idaho (AP) - An southeastern Idaho man has been arraigned on a first-degree murder charge in connection to the shooting death of 25-year-old Liopoldo Amescua.

Police arrested 22-year-old Gerry Salgado, of Aberdeen, Monday.

The Times-News reports Salgado was arraigned Tuesday in 5th District Court on three other charges, including aggravated battery, grand theft and enhancement for the use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony.

Emergency crews responded to a vacant area north of the Raft River Store near the town of Malta in Cassia County on Saturday, finding Amescua dead from a gunshot wound.

Salgado is also accusing of striking Amescua's girlfriend, 46-year-old Estella Castro, who is being treated at a Pocatello hospital for the non-life-threatening injuries.
