JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - Officials say a Pennsylvania man who was hiking in Grand Teton National Park fell to his death on Teewinot Mountain Tuesday.
Teton County Coroner Bob Campbell identified the man as 24-year-old Eliot Ramsay Kalmbach of Pennsylvania. His home town was not immediately available.
Park spokeswoman Jackie Skags says the man was traveling across country with a friend when they stopped to hike the east face of the 12,325-foot mountain. Skags says the pair apparently got off route when Kalmbach fell from a notch in a ridge above Delta Lake.
Twelve major search and rescue operations have been held in the park this year. Kalmbach's death marks the first fatality.
