SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) - Western Nebraska Community College has announced the hiring of Russ Beck as its new men's basketball coach.
Beck was an assistant at the College of Southern Idaho last season, helping the Golden Eagles to a 22-9 record and third-place finish in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. He previously was an assistant at Salt Lake Community College in Utah.
Since 1990 Western Nebraska CC has averaged 25 wins a season and been to the national tournament eight times.
Beck succeeds Brian Joyce, who resigned in June to become an assistant at NCAA Division I Liberty University in Virginia. The Cougars were 25-7 last season.
