Two teenage boys, 16-year old Reece Landa and his brother 14-year old Conner Landa were on their way to school this morning.

As they were driving on Highway 95 just south of Homedale police say somehow they lost control of their Jeep.

"Went off the road hit the canal and just started rolling, they rolled about 3, 3 and half times, landed on their tires," said the Owyhee County Sheriff Daryl Crandall.

Conner Landa was pronounced dead on the scene.

While his brother Reece was air lifted to Saint Alphonsus Hospital.

"Last thing you want to do as a principal or as a parent is deal with something like this," said the Homedale High School Principal Mike Williams.

The school offered counseling to students and parents as they tried to deal with this tragic loss. Williams said the teenagers were very active in school.

"Reese is a junior at the high school, very active young man, great basketball involvement with the team. His younger brother Conner played football and also a member of the golf team, great man, outgoing, and vivacious," said Williams.

Police are still investigating how the crash happened.

Police say neither of the 2 boys were wearing their seat belts.

"This is an accident, have they been wearing their seat belts they would've walked away from this," said Sheriff Crandall.

Officials at Saint Al's hospital say 16-year old Reece Landa was treated and released.
