On Christmas Eve, many leave cookies to thank Santa for delivering presents. The same type of "thank you" is not often extended to those who work in the shipping and delivery industry.

"They deliver too, so they should get treats too," Alicia Cassarino says. "It's the same service."

That is why Cassarino is extending the sentiment to the men and women who deliver packages to her doorstep. She created a simple box full of goodies such as water, soda and protein bars, attached a note, and left the the box on her doorstep.

Like most people. Cassarino is doing a lot of Christmas shopping online. Combine that with the shipping she does for her small business, and she says she has a lot for which to be thankful.

"Especially yesterday, when the snow started and nothing was shoveled, I just felt terrible that they had to walk up to all the houses, so I just made a little something to go outside," Cassarino says.

She posted her idea to Instagram and received hundreds of likes and comments. She even fostered a response from FedEx.

"I've had lots of people that I didn't even know on the Instagram feed, that work for either the Postal Service or FedEx, say they would really appreciate that," she says. "FedEx gave me a shout-out today saying that was really kind."

Cassarino doesn't mind if you steal her idea for yourself.

"I think it's an easy way for people to say thank you to people that offer services that we forget about," she says. "As we just click 'purchase' constantly, we forget that someone has to bring that to our door and it's not so nice out sometimes."

For Cassarino, it's all about giving back.

"I don't often see them or see how they react, but, when I refill that bucket, I know it worked," she says.
